The Sargent No 3411 transitional plane is a wood-bottom smoothing plane. Patented February 3, 1891. This appears to be a type 1 as indicated by the intricate feathered lever cap.
The plane itself is very good condition. Japaning appears to be 100% intact. The handle & tote are strong and sturdy. The Sargent logo and plane number remain visible on toe. Other than some minor cosmetic blemishes the plane is in remarkable condition given its age.
The plane has screw adjustment with Patent Side Adjustment for exact adjusting of the Cutter with the face of the Plane.
